Beniamino “Benny” Ricchio, 86, of Kenosha, passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2021, at Aurora Medical Center – Kenosha. Born on December 17, 1934, in Marano Principato, Cosenza, Italy, he was the son of the late Giovanni and Carmella (Savaglio) Ricchio. On September 22, 1963, he married Carmelina “Carmella” Rose Gallo in Italy. That same year they moved to Kenosha to make their home. She preceded him in death on September 4, 2019, after 55 years of marriage. Benny was employed at American Motors and retired in 1998. He was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church and the Italian American Club where he enjoyed playing bocce. He was a dog trainer and trained German Shorthair hunting dogs. He would take his two dogs, Max and Kobe, to walk and train every morning at Bong Recreational Center. Benny also enjoyed hunting, gardening, canning, making homemade sausage, wine, and cheese, and working with his homing pigeons. Above all else, he loved spending time with his family. Survivors include his two children, Marisa (Donald) Kaldenberg and John (Susan) Ricchio; six grandchildren, Stephany (Andy) Strash, Jennifer (Daniel) Edwards, Giavanna Ricchio, Mitchell Apple, Nicholas (Alondra) Kaldenberg, and Nathan (Lauren) Kaldenberg; eight great-grandchildren, and one on the way; and a sister, Ada Ricchio. He is further survived by Jeff Ricchio; other loving nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by a sister, Giuseppina (Carmen) Ricchio. The family would like to thank the staff at Aurora Medical Center in Kenosha for the care they provided Benny. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 7th, at Proko Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, 1919 54th Street, at 12:30 p.m. Entombment will follow at All Saints Mausoleum.
