Alvera Zapparato, 88, of Chicago, Illinois passed away on Saturday, December 5, 2020 in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Born on February 2, 1932, in Gary, Indiana; she was the daughter of the late Eulalio Mata and Vincenta Valadez. Alvera was a long-time resident of Chicago Illinois. She was known as “Ma” to many for her loving and selfless heart. Mother to her son Paul Castellano (Gerry), her late daughter Rose Rodriguez, and her daughter Mercedes Reed (Paul). Grandmother to Paul (Jamie), the late Christopher, Christina (Billy), Heather, Anthony (Chrystine), Stephanie (Hank), Arianna (Omar), and Erica. Great Grandmother to Brittany, Julia, Chris, Molly, James, Kareem, Alayah, Rose, Mateo, Carter, Olivia, Max, and Conor. The Funeral will be held on Friday, December 11, 2020, at 1:00pm at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Evergreen Park, Illinois, 60805. I was helping move her out her apartment and in each room I kept finding different weapon a knife, baseball bat, switchblade even a blackjack when I showed her she said with a smile 'A gals gotta protect her self '!!! It was awesome.
