I was with Mike Neumann when we entered Iraq in March 2003. Just got promoted to Senior Chief, Mike was a true leader who inspired his troops to follow and do their best. During one of our convoys, one of our transport equipment broke down. While waiting for the CMs (mechanics) to repair, we received sniper fires. Unable to engage due to civilians around the proximity, Mike made a quick decision to leave and disable the Humvee so that it can't be used by the enemy. We carried on with the convoy and finally arrived at our destination. Mission accomplished without casualty. Mike, you are one of a kind. Rest in peace, Brother! The watch is assumed by those you trained and inspired. Will miss you truly. vr/ Manny Manipon, SWCS (Ret)

Mike, I will forever keep you in my heart. I will miss you and I will never have a best friend like you again. Although we lived far apart I often tell stories of the crazy fun things we did. I was always excited when I’d see you name on my phone calling me and I always enjoyed our visits, even though few and far between, they meant the world to me. RIP My Friend and continue to watch over your family and friends! I’ll see you again one day. Love you my friend, you”re buddy, Mark Thomas
