I know it's been some years now, but I just learned of Dave's passing. He was a close friend growing up in Wildwood. I was always gonna try to find Dave to reconnect over the yeats, but life got busy. Im sure I'll have my chance in heaven. Readibg all the posts here on this site definitely represents how much he's missed and the great man he was. Hes someone I've never forgotten about, even after 40 years and never will forget....

My deepest condolences go out to all who knew and loved Dave. I grew up with Dave. We went to Woodland grade school together, Warren Township High School together, and Winona State University together. I spent one summer working with him as a breakfast/lunch server at a local hotel restaurant making some good tips, but not really loving the job. I remember though, he always had a great smile while serving the customers. They also loved our flat-tops we sported. I enjoyed a lot of great times with Dave and I know that those who knew Dave are better off for it.

I am so sorry to hear this news. I grew up with Dave from Jr. High through college playing sports with him. He was always a fun loving guy and a great teammate. Over the last week I have been thinking of him often remembering the good times on and off the field. My deepest condolences to his family and many friends. Ken Woodard

I will never think of the Warren Township High School basketball championship season, without thinking of Dave Sjong. No one played harder. No one on that team surpassed his exceptional spirit, effort, talent and love of the game! Dave played HARD, every minute of every game. Dave truly had the heart of champion. It was a wonderful season, that will live in my memory forever (and I am 82 years old)!My sincere condolences go out to Dave's very loving and loyal parents Myla and Jerry; his wife Joy; his children; and his brothers. Remember the joy that Dave brought to EVERYONE who lived in Gurnee IL and who remember that special season even now. Remember Dave's accomplishments - both on and off the court - always. Be proud of him always. All my love, Donna Sears - and fond memories from one of Dave's teammates: Brian Sears.

Met David @ Winona State University, unforgettable man & friend. Even though he was on Offense & I was on Defense as the team Captain he was true to his leadership. Many times I wanted to walk away & David was always an encouraging guy that made the situation right. My heart and condolences go out to his family, he will be dearly missed. God Bless!
