Gertrude “Lu” Kleven, 91, of Mount Pleasant, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 28, 2018, at Bay Harbor Memory Care & Assisted Living. Born in Wilmer, MN, on June 21, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Erwin and Gillenora (Dalen) Farness. She married Dennis Swanson who preceded her in death in November of 1975, then later married Noble Kleven who also preceded her in death in April of 2007. Lu previously taught in a one-room school house in St. Cloud, MN, until she decided to become a full-time homemaker for her family. She loved being a part of the outdoors, including fishing, swimming, snowshoeing, and camping. She was a hands-on grandma who loved to cook and help others. Lu was a member at St. Mary’s Lutheran Church during her time in Kenosha. She is survived by her children, Kristen (Neil) Guttormsen, Tom Swanson, and Tim (Kim) Swanson; grandchildren, Brian (Lori), Erik (Nikki), and John (Laura) Guttormsen, and Lisa, Tanner, and Timmy Swanson, along with other grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her only sister, Audrey (Jim) Homme.
