Peter Amadio

1929 ∼ 2018

Peter Amadio, 89, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully in his sleep at Ridgewood Care Center in Mount Pleasant, on Thursday, December 27, 2018. Pete always thought that was a “top shelf” way to go. Born on February 15, 1929, in Kenosha, he was the son of the late Tony and Pierina (Piermarini) Amadio. Pete served during the Korean War in the United States Army as a Corporal from 1951 until he was honorably discharged in 1953. He also served in the Merchant Marines for two and a half years. On October 30, 1965, he married Marlene L. Strand at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church. She preceded him in death in 1994. Pete was a lifelong member at Mt. Carmel Church, belonging to the Holy Name Society and volunteering for their annual summer festivals. He always loved attending their spaghetti dinners. He was also actively involved in his wife’s floral craft business, where they traveled to many craft fairs together for over 22 years. Pete was employed by AMC/Chrysler for 43 years until his retirement. He is survived by his two children, Karen (Rick) Lippert of Kenosha and Heidi (Steve) Curty of Racine; and four grandchildren, John, Alyssa, Amy, and Hannah. Pete was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, John Amadio; sisters, Dea Perroni, Mary Kaiser, Gina Scheve, Lena Martinek, and Orvine Scheve; and brother, Alfonso Amadio. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends, who fondly called him “Brother Pete.” The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Brookdale Assisted Living Facility and Ridgewood Care Center in Racine for the compassionate care that they provided. As well as, Terry from the VA for the numerous games of cribbage he played with our dad. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 2nd, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Mt. Carmel Church or the American Heart Association would be appreciated by the family.Proko Funeral Home & Crematory5111-60th StreetKenosha, WI 53144Phone: (262) 654-3533Visit & Sign Peter’s Online Memorial Book at:www.prokofuneralhome.com
