Marianne F. Goergen, 93, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 15, 2018, at The Addison of Pleasant Prairie. Born in Züttlingen, Germany, on March 6, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Ludwig and Mary (Wagner) Funk. She moved from Germany to Ohio at the age of three and then came to Kenosha as a young girl, where she received her education. On January 11, 1947, she married Richard S. Goergen; he preceded her in death on September 29, 1976. After the death of her husband, Marianne worked for ten years as a secretary in the Student Union at Carthage College. She was a member of St. Mary’s Lutheran Church, loved her dachshunds, and enjoyed sewing, gardening, baking, and cooking, especially German dishes. She will be remembered for her annual Christmas dinners of rouladen, spätzles and red cabbage. Survivors include her two children, Claudia G. Hammond of Valparaiso, IN, and Richard (Terri) Goergen, Jr. of Kenosha; and three grandchildren, Annah (Thomas) Schneider, Matthew (Angie) Hammond and Michael Hammond. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Karen Anne; and a sister, Mary Ann in infancy. Marianne’s family would like to thank the wonderful staff at The Addison Memory Care East and the caring support of Heartland Hospice for all that they have done for her and her family. Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 22nd, at St. Mary’s Lutheran Church, 2001-80th Street, Kenosha, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Mary’s Lutheran Church or Heartland Hospice would be greatly appreciated by the family.Proko Funeral Home & Crematory5111-60th StreetKenosha, WI 53144Phone: (262) 654-3533Visit & Sign Marianne’s Online Memorial Book at:www.prokofuneralhome.com
