Peter Ortiz, 88, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 2, 2018, at Brookside Care Center surrounded by his loving family. Born in Chicago, IL, on October 22, 1930, he was the son of the late Peter and Anna (Scovetta) Ortiz. On September 27, 1952, he married Mary Schmitz at St. James Catholic Church. They were blessed with 65 years together. She preceded him in death on May 21, 2018. Peter was employed as a tool and die maker for American Motors/Chrysler until his retirement in 1996. He enjoyed going on vacation up-north, making and using his own fishing lures, hunting, golfing, and dancing with his wife. In his youth, he was successful at every sport he tried. Above all else, Peter loved spending time with his family. Peter will always be remembered by his loving children, Karen (Andrew) Janota, Laura (Curt) DeBruin, Ann (Mark) Schnuck and Mary (Mike) LeRoy; his grandchildren, Lisa (James) Lusiak, Greggory (Jessica) Burt, Sarah (Victor) Lebron, Stefanie (Jack) Rhoades, Jason (Katelyn) DeBruin, Eric (Krista Wolfe) De Bruin, Heather (Dikeomel) Young, Kelly (Joe) Scruggs, Ryan (Renee) Schnuck, Michael LeRoy, Bradley LeRoy, Marc (Kaitlain) LeRoy and Camren Owens; and 29 great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his two sisters, Mary Ann Bustamante and Sara Ortiz; other relatives; and friends. He is preceded in death by a brother and five sisters. The family would like to thank Dr. Feldy, the staff at Brookside Care Center, especially the staff of the 700 hall, and Hospice Alliance for their kind and compassionate care.
