Ferdinand J. “Fred” Caracciolo, 96, of Kenosha, passed away on Saturday, September 1, 2018, at Froedtert South-St. Catherine’s Medical Center Campus, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Rotaca Greca, Italy, on January 12, 1922, he was the son of the late Pasquale and Betina (Mari) Caracciolo. On January 17, 1942, he enlisted into the US Army. He proudly served during WWII in the Pacific Theater on Guadalcanal and was honorably discharged on November 8, 1945. He was a life member of the VFW, loved associating with other veterans at the Heroes Café, and would be happy to tell stories and share photos with friends and family. Following his service, Fred was employed at American Motors as a Quality Control Supervisor until his retirement in 1977. After retirement, Fred did mission work in the Philippines for several years. On January 15, 1987, he married Rustica “Ruth” Oleriana in the Philippines. Fred was a member of St. James Catholic Church, served as a Eucharist Minister at St. James Catholic Church, and was a board member of the Pilipino Association. He loved to travel overseas and experience all cultures. He will be remembered for being generous, caring, and having a contagious smile. He truly loved life. Survivors include his wife, Ruth; son, Howard (Karen); daughter-in-law, Charlene; two grandsons, Tony (Audrey) and Tom; four great grandchildren, Wil, Jayden, Sloane, and Jesse; and a great-great granddaughter, Gianna. He is further survived by four sisters, Dora Littiken, Beverly Mayo, Ann (Renato) Castiglia, and Vivian Borkin; and many loving nephews and nieces. He is preceded in death by a son, Michael; a granddaughter, Lorie; and a sister, Norma. Fred's family would like to thank Dr. Neil Shepler and his staff for the kind and compassionate care they gave him. Visitation for Fred will be held on Thursday, September 6th, at St. James Catholic Church, 5804 Sheridan Road, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass at 11:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at All Saints Mausoleum with full military honors.
