Geraldine R. Smith, 82, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 30, 2018, at Hospice Alliance Hospice House in Pleasant Prairie surrounded by her loving family. Born in Chicago, IL, on May 26, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Robert John and Mary Frances (Harding) Schmitz. She attended local schools and was a graduate of Kenosha High School. On July 25, 1959, she married Ramon L. Smith in Waukegan, IL; they later divorced. Geraldine worked as a deli clerk at Piggly Wiggly and SuperValu where she retired in 2003. She was a member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church and loved to cook and bake for friends, family, and neighbors. She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, traveling, and will be missed by her beloved dog, Winston. Geraldine will always be remembered by her four children, William “Bill” (Jeannine) Thurn of Marysville, WA, Elaine (Jason) Hodshire of Rice Lake, WI, and Ramon (Colette) Smith, Jr. and Sandra (Donald) Oswalt, both of Kenosha; her grandchildren, Sarah Campbell (fiancée Chris Wilson), Christina (William) Hignite, Amanda Oswalt, Matthew Oswalt, Ryan Smith, Jacob Smith, Nicole (Jacob) Vernezze; her sisters, Carolee (Ken) Strathman of California and Barbara Cunningham of Kenosha; her best friend, Ellen Doerfler; her former husband, Ramon L. Smith, Sr; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters, Elaine Gollnick and Mary Ortiz; and a grandson, Brian Campbell, Jr. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 6th, at Mt.
