John Oscar Marander

John Oscar Marander, 87, of Kenosha, formerly of White Pine, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 25, 2018, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born on March 25, 1931, in Anoka, MN, he was the son of the late Oscar and Elsie (Poikonen) Marander. He was a 1949 graduate of Wakefield High School. John proudly served in the United States Navy from 1950 until 1954, when he was honorably discharged. On April 16, 1955, he married the love of his life, Marilyn Yvonne Englund. John was employed by White Pine Copper Company for 30 years, and later North Shore Sanitary District, until his retirement in June of 1993. He was a member of Toast Masters, The American Legion, Civil Events Board, Church Board, as well as Board Treasurer, and President of the School Board. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn of Kenosha; his daughter, Melanie (Wayne) Carrier of Kenosha; two grandchildren, John (Meghan) Carrier of Salem and Jeffrey (Jennifer) Carrier of Wauconda, IL; and four great-grandchildren, Kylie, Amelie, Elise, and Clara Carrier. John was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 6th, at Proko Funeral Home at 5:00 p.m. followed by full military honors.
