Erik Viktorvich Maklezow

1974 ∼ 2018

Erik Viktorvich Maklezow
Kenosha lost a vibrant soul on Thursday, March 8, 2018. Erik Maklezow passed away due to an infection in his Heart that took him away from us too soon. Born February 20, 1974, in Chicago, Erik grew up in Kenosha and attended Southport Elementary, Lincoln Jr. and Tremper High School. He left for a few years post high school to enjoy the snowboarder’s life in Colorado and Utah but returned to Kenosha before beginning new life adventures. Erik and his dad Viktor teamed up in 1999 to row the entire Mississippi River as a fundraiser to support his 5-year-old niece, Autumn Jensen, who was suffering from a brain tumor. Eventually he would further his time on the water by sailing his dads 56’ sailboat from New Orleans to St. Croix USVI, enjoying the experience of island life before returning to Kenosha. Erik was a well-known charismatic Server at Mangia for 16 years, enjoying every bit of his time there. He ended up back to his true love, the water, for the last few years of his life working as a sailor/deck-hand on the local tall ship the “Red Witch” giving tours on Lake Michigan. Erik truly had the biggest heart and will be missed by many folks as his Spirit moves on to new adventures! He is survived by his mother Edie Iverson, sisters; Katrina Askew and Lisa Maklezow, and nieces; Summer, India and Ivy. There will be a Celebration of Life for family and friends this Sunday, March 11th, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Paddy O’s in Kenosha.Proko Funeral Home & Crematory5111-60th StreetKenosha, WI 53144Phone: (262) 654-3533Visit & Sign Erik’s Online Memorial Book at:www.prokofuneralhome.com
