Domenico Savaglio
Domenico Savaglio, 83, of Kenosha, passed away suddenly on Sunday, February 18, 2018, at Froedtert South-Kenosha Medical Center Campus. Born on May 10, 1934, in Marano Principato in the province of Cosenza, Italy, he was the son of the late Benedetto and Carolina (Guido) Savaglio. He attended grade school in his home town. Growing up, he loved playing outdoors in the natural beauty of Calabria. At age 19, he immigrated to the United States crossing the Atlantic with his brother and sister to New York to reunite with their parents in Kenosha, Wisconsin in 1953. For many years, he worked as a landscaper in Lake Forest, Illinois until he was hired by Nash/American Motors in 1956. Domenico worked at American Motors (later Chrysler) as driver for 30 years until his retirement in 1986. He met Esterina Passarelli in Kenosha in early 1959 and they were married at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church on September 19th. They were blessed with a daughter and two sons. He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church. He enjoyed being a landlord, playing cards with his friends, spending time farming with his John Deere tractor and classical music, especially that of Luciano Pavarotti. In his earlier years, he loved to hunt with his dad, brother and their Irish setter, Lola. More than anything else, he loved spending time with his family, especially all his grandchildren and their friends and cousins. Domenico is survived by his loving wife, Esterina of Kenosha; two children, John D. (Lisa) Savaglio and Carolina (Dr. Giuseppe) Miceli, both of Kenosha; and six grandchildren, Nicholas, Marco and Matthew Miceli; Domenic, Anna and Dino Savaglio. He is further survived by his in-laws, Armando Covelli, Rosalba Savaglio, John (Rosetta) Passarelli, Emil (Mary Anne) Passarelli, Rita Ruffolo, Carmela Passarelli and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Alfredo; two sisters, Teresa and Lidia in infancy; in-laws: Concetta and Francesco Caira, Antonio Passarelli, Pietro Ruffolo, Rosina and Giuseppe Pulice; and his son, Benedetto “Benny” Savaglio.
