Mabel A. Hoey, 86, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 13, 2018, at Froedtert South-St. Catherine’s Medical Center Campus with her family by her side. Born in Kenosha on January 18, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Erwin and Mabel (Beyer) Leach. A lifelong resident of Kenosha, she was educated in local schools. On June 5, 1954, she married Dennis Hoey at St. James Catholic Church in Kenosha. He preceded her in death on October 13, 2006. Mabel was employed with American Motors Corporation, retiring in 1988. She was the Milwaukee Brewers number one fan, a diehard Green Bay Packer fan, and an avid Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune watcher. Her most important accomplishment was helping raise her grandsons for their working mothers. Survivors include a son, Dennis A. (Eva) Hoey, Jr. of Pleasant Prairie; a daughter, Kathleen (Rick) Taylor of Kenosha; five grandchildren, Jake Hoey, Ryan Hoey, Casey (Jakki) Taylor, Christopher Taylor and Cody (Jessica) Taylor; a great-grandson, Jack Taylor; and a special niece, Peggy Ishmael. She is further survived by her lifelong friends, Julie Fraid, Arlene Prybylski and Alice Ebener. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Georgia Swiatko, Jessa Mae Penrose, Mary Kiraly and Charleen Leach; and a brother, Edward Leach. Mabel’s family would like to give a special thanks to the caring staff at Crossroads for their superb care of Mabel and the wonderful nurses at Froedtert South for their special care.
