Donna Kaye Giles
Donna Kaye Giles, 70, beloved wife of J. Thomas Giles III, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 21, 2018, at St. Catherine’s Medical Center Campus with her loving family at her side. Donna was born on January 18, 1948, in Baldwyn, Mississippi, to Geraldine (nee McKay) and Charles Boxx. Her parents moved their family to Kenosha in the early 1950’s where Donna attended local Kenosha schools including Bullamore Forks School and Central High School. On October 26, 1968, Donna married J. Thomas Giles III, (Tom) in Kenosha. Donna and Tom had two children, Chad Giles and Amy Giles-Maurer. Donna was a savvy and successful businesswoman and entrepreneur. After focusing the early years of her married life on building her family as a homemaker, in 1986, Donna ventured with Tom to create a family owned electronics manufacturing business. Their company, TG3 Electronics, Inc., started its first production atop a billiards table in their first home’s basement. Thirty-two years later, TG3 Electronics, Inc. of Kenosha is engineering and manufacturing custom keyboards and control panels that are being used in hospitals, restaurants, retail outlets, police cars, aircraft, and financial institutions both across America and internationally. Books were Donna’s constant companion. She was a voracious reader and was rarely seen without a book in hand or without a collection of recently read or to be read books stacked near her. She loved reading a great mystery thriller with an exciting plot twist. In the springtime, Donna carefully planned the season’s flower plantings and vegetable gardens at her home and family hobby farm. As an avid gardener, she planted several thousand flowers annually. Many of those flowers were kept and started in her greenhouse. Donna’s elaborate plantings were well known in the area. Her many gardens created wonderfully idyllic settings for her family and friends to gather within. Donna was an incredible cook and baker who expressed her love for her family and friends through everything she made inside ‘Nana’s kitchen.’ She loved watching others enjoy her Southern-style meals that she always finished with her most delicious and frequently baked desserts. Her cakes and pies were legendary and sought after by everyone who knew of her baking talents. People from the surrounding community to within the State Capitol made requests for Donna’s desserts. Family was always at the center of Donna’s life. Her greatest joy was spending time with, baking for, and generally spoiling her grandchildren: Collin, Brennan, Chase, Sophie, and Mackenzie-Kay. She adored them beyond measure and they equally adored their Nana. Donna’s closest friends were considered family. Her generosity and big heart will be forever missed by all of her loved ones. Donna is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 49 years, Tom, her beloved son, Chad, his former wife, Julie, her beautiful daughter, Amy, her favorite son-in-law, Steve, her two brothers, Dannye Boxx (Neva) and Don Boxx (Julie), her nephews, Josh and Zach Boxx, and Kurt Peterson, a niece, Lisa Baumann, her beloved aunt, Voncil, her numerous cousins in Mississippi as well as her surrogate family: Nikki, Maria, Tom and Roberto. Donna’s loved ones would like to recognize and to thank all of the ICU nurses and staff at St. Catherine’s Medical Center Campus who cared for Donna. Also, her loved ones would like to thank Dr. Mariani, Dr. Habel, and Dr. Milosevic for their expertise and compassion in treating Donna and in helping them during this difficult time. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 25th, at Proko Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers or gifts, Donna would appreciate donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital to honor her love of children.Proko Funeral Home & Crematory5111-60th StreetKenosha, WI 53144Phone: (262) 654-3533Visit & Sign Donna’s Online Memorial Book at:www.prokofuneralhome.com
