Jo Ann Medley, 64, of Kenosha, died on Saturday, December 23, 2017, at her home. She was born June 3, 1953, in Portsmouth, OH. Jo Ann was the wife, life partner, and steadfast friend to her husband; a great mother and supporter to her children, and a tireless proponent for the underserved in society. She was a registered nurse; whose greatest professional happiness came from her work with those incarcerated within the Kenosha correctional system. At one point in her life, she served on the School Board for the Kenosha Unified School District and acted as President of that organization during much of her tenure. Her primary focus was always the improvement of the system and the welfare of every student. She was, in short, a fighter for those who are unable to do so themselves. Jo Ann loved the ocean and all things tropical. Her favorite place in this world was the Florida Keys. So, of course, she was a Parrothead! Her love for all things Jimmy Buffett never wavered over the decades. From now on, the grace of dolphins swimming, the meandering of manatees, and the stately flights of pelicans should serve as reminders of Jo Ann for all who truly knew her. Surpassing all things, Jo Ann was a mother. Her fierce love for her daughter and son knew no bounds. She was, and will forever be, their number one fan. She is survived by her husband, Greg Carpenter of Kenosha; daughter, Chelsea Riley of Spokane, WA; son, Dylan Riley of Berlin, Germany; sister, Martha (Steve) Hilditch; and two brothers, Jack (Merni) Medley and John (Nancy) Medley. Visitation for Jo Ann will be held Friday, December 29th, at Proko Funeral Home, from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Turtle Hospital in Marathon, FL, would be appreciated. “It’s 5:00 somewhere!”Proko Funeral Home & Crematory5111-60th StreetKenosha, WI 53144Phone: (262) 654-3533Visit & Sign Jo Ann’s Online Memorial Book at:www.prokofuneralhome.com

Dear Greg, Chelsea, and Dylan: I am so sad about JoAnn. She was such a lovely woman and I so enjoyed talking to her over the many years that I've known her! She knew anything about everything and our views were very much the same about the world. I was so glad I could see her before she passed. We just shot the sh*t at her house and talked about every day things..mostly our families, which I knew were so important to her. She will be greatly missed and if there is anything I can do for any of you, please let me know. I will always hold her in my heard and mind. Love, Suzanne
