Amelia R. Nielsen, 84, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 4, 2017, at Aurora Medical Center. Born in Kenosha on July 9, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Angeline (Aiello) Ghera. On April 25, 1959, she married Lester S. Nielsen Sr.; he preceded her in death on October 3, 1999. Amelia worked at Jockey International as a seamstress. She was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Amelia enjoyed going out every night for a ride and cappuccino, spending time with her family, her friends at Brookside, playing games and BINGO, doing arts and crafts, watching the game show network and the Chicago CUBS, and listening to country music. She is survived by her two children, Sue (Ernest) Noto and Lester Nielsen Jr., both of Kenosha; two grandchildren, Amy (Michael) Lange and Lori (William Burroughs) Noto; and two great-grandchildren, Madison and Ava. Amelia was preceded in death by a brother, Peter Ghera. Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 9th, at Proko Funeral Home from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service at 5:00 p.m. Entombment will take place at All Saints Mausoleum privately at a later date.
