Richard J. Thompson, 64, of Kenosha, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, December 2, 2017, at Froedtert South-St. Catherine’s Medical Center Campus. Born in North Chicago, IL, on December 5, 1952, he was the son of the late Russell and Ann (Paukovac) Thompson. He was educated in the school of North Chicago; and played both basketball and baseball in high school. Following high school, he played baseball semi-professionally. On September 20, 1997, he married Judith Gibour in Las Vegas, NV. They enjoyed traveling to tropical destinations together. After high school, Richard worked at Johnson Motors/Outboard Marine Corporation, and then later was employed as a District Manager for Aramark Corporation before his retirement. After retiring, Richard volunteered at Aurora Hospital, where his giving, charismatic, and joking personality could be seen during his interactions with everyone who met him. He was a huge sports fanatic, and would always be spotted wearing apparel from his favorite teams; the Chicago Bears and Cubs. He was a family man, and loved spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Judith Thompson; daughters, Anna Cornejo and Kelly (Jeff) Long; step daughters, Heather (Dustin) Salica, Missy (Brian) Cross, and Sarah (John) Dow; and 11 grandchildren, Abby, Maddie, Emma, Olivia, Quinn, Gavin, Caden, Kenzie, Cameron, Lyric, and John V. He is further survived by other relatives and many friends. The family would like to thank Kenosha’s first responders, and the entire staff at St. Catherine’s for the excellent care they provided. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 7th, at Proko Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be private.Proko Funeral Home & Crematory5111-60th StreetKenosha, WI 53144Phone: (262) 654-3533Visit & Sign Richard’s Online Memorial Book at:www.prokofuneralhome.com

Our sympathies to Judy and all of Rich's children and grandchildren he talked about so lovingly when we volunteered together at Aurora. Warm and welcoming, and sometimes irreverent - but always one of the most generous people on Earth. We will miss him more than words can express. "Everything is free for Bears' fans today!" Rest in peace, Rich.
