Judith J. Strash, 88, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 30, 2017, at Aurora Medical Center. Born in Kenosha on January 30, 1929, she was the daughter of the late George and Tekla (Jeselun) Balcaitis. Judy was a lifelong resident of Kenosha and graduated from Mary D. Bradford High School. On September 6, 1947, she married the love of her life, Richard V. Strash at St. Peter’s Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on January 1, 2013. Judy was a homemaker, proudly raising her six children. She was a former member of the Christian Women’s Club, Sunday School teacher, AWANA leader, Bible Study leader, and was active in school PTA and Girl Scouts when her children were younger. Judy was a wonderful cook who loved to host family and holiday gatherings. Her Lithuanian cooking was legendary, although she could make anything delicious. Survivors include her six children, Marilyn (Pat) Smith of Somers, Barbara Strash of Kenosha, Rick (Becky) Strash of Pleasant Prairie, Dan (Terry) Strash of Kenosha, Tom (Julie) Strash of Kenosha and David (Tricia) Strash of Kenosha; eighteen grandchildren; and twenty-four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Ann Harrington, Tekla Morzejko, and Lucie Zavacke. Judy’s family would like to express their sincere thanks to the nurses and staff at Brookside Care Center, Aurora Medical Center, and Aurora at Home Hospice for all of the kind and compassionate care they gave her. Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 6th, at Proko Funeral Home at 12:00 noon. Interment will follow at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Monday at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Brookside Care Center would be appreciated by the family.Proko Funeral Home & Crematory5111-60th StreetKenosha, WI 53144Phone: (262) 654-3533Visit & Sign Judy’s Online Memorial Book at:www.prokofuneralhome.com

I have so many great memories of Aunt Judy, especially when I would sleep over at the Strash house. Ice cream at night, Richard Simmons on the TV in the morning, Paul Harvey on the radio at lunch, her laughing and calling David and I "you boys". She was such a positive person; always a smile on her face. Her heart was overflowing with love for everyone in her life. Her legacy lives on with her children, grandchildren and great-grand children. With love, Pat, Mary, David and Anna
