Mary Viola Cardinali, 99, of Kenosha, passed away on October 25, 2017, after a sudden illness. Mary was born in Kenosha on December 26, 1917, the daughter of the late Domenico and Elvera (Zarletti) Viola. She was educated in the schools of Kenosha. She married Louis H. Cardinali September 11, 1937, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. They were married for 50 years. Louis passed away on December 21, 1987, after a long illness. Mary was truly dedicated to being Louie’s care giver for over nine years during his illness. Mary worked at Simmons Mattress Co. from 1935-1941. She was the Assistant Cook at St. Joseph High School from 1958-1964 and the Office Clerk at Servomation Vending Co., in Racine for 14 years. She was a lifetime member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and a member of the Altar Society. She was also a member of the Catholic Women’s Society and the Italian American Ladies Auxiliary. Mary volunteered with the Mini Medics at the former St. Catherine’s Hospital and Aurora Hospital for 35 years. She was one of the coordinators of the Hydrotherapy Plus at Jane Vernon School since 1989. Mary is survived by her three children; Gerald (Karen) Cardinali of Kenosha, Thomas (Bernie) Cardinali of Las Vegas, NV, and Mary Ann Cardinali of Kenosha; seven grandchildren, Mary (Michael) Redinger, Michael (Jennifer) Cardinali, Julie (Sam) Sturino, Nick (Barbara) Cardinali, Laura(Chris) Gatti, Thomas Cardinali, and Louis (Amy) Cardinali ; ten great grandchildren, Kayla and Austin Redinger, Sam and Nico Cardinali, Alex and Gianna Sturino, Isabella and Jacob Cardinali, Maya and Sofia Cardinali; one step grandson, Justin (Tanya) Sturino; one great-great grandson; and great-great granddaughter. Also surviving her are several loving nieces and nephews, and her cousins Betty and Geralyn Pulera of Green Bay. She also leaves her extended loving family members of William and Ruth Hermann and Mary Storz family who lovingly know her as Auntie Mary; Laurie Staves and Tom Orendorff. She was preceded in death by a brother, Dan Viola; two sisters, Inez Bennett and infant sister Elsa Viola; and her sisters-in-law, Sylvia Cesari and Angie Viola. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 29th, from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Proko Funeral Home. Dear Mary Ann and all the family. Please accept my condolences on the death of a wonderful lady. Always smiling and always a thoughtful word for whomever she was speaking to.
