Donald Leo Rubadeau

Donald Leo Rubadeau, 83, of Kenosha, passed away on Tuesday, September 26, 2017, at United Hospital System-Kenosha Medical Center Campus. Born in Jefferson, WI, on November 23, 1933, he was the son of the late Francis “Jack” and Martha (Buchta) Rubadeau. He was educated at Jefferson and Watertown public schools. On January 7, 1951, he enlisted in the Army Paratrooper 11th Airborne and 187 Airborne Regimental Combat Team. He was awarded the United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal with two bronze service medals, the National Defense Service Medal, Parachute Badge, and Combat Infantry Badge. On December 10, 1953, he was honorably discharged. His name was placed on the Korean Veterans Honor Roll on April 11, 1957, and was a lifetime member of the Kenosha VFW. On August 7, 1954, he married Pearl Joy Schlesner at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Watertown, WI. They had three sons; Jon Rubadeau born 4/14/1955, Scott Rubadeau born 7/1/1958, and Mark Rubadeau born 4/1/1963. She preceded him in death on August 15, 2016. Donald was employed by Montgomery Ward in Watertown, Fort Atkinson, and Kenosha from 1954 to 1974. Upon moving to Kenosha in 1959, he started “Don’s Sudden Service” as a siding contractor. He enjoyed playing cribbage, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, going to the casino and gambling. Donald is survived by his son, Mark Rubadeau; a sister, Marlene (Kenneth) Huehn of Watertown; sisters-in-law, Lois Rubadeau of St. George, British Columbia and Kathleen (Mike) Jensen; and his pet cat, Fergi. He is further survived by nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces, other relatives, and many friends. He is preceded in death by two sons, Jon and Scott Rubadeau; a brother, Dr. Duane Rubadeau; father and mother in-law, Ervin and Shirley Schlesner; sister-in-law, Lois (Schlesner) Buelow; four brothers-in-law, Howard Buelow, and Wayne, Donald, Dennis, and Dale Schlesner; and two sisters-in-law, Sandra (Schlesner) Herschi and Beatrice Schlesner. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 5th, at Proko Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 3:00 p.m. with full military honors.
