Fedele Tenuta

1933 ∼ 2017

Surrounded by his loving family, Fedele Tenuta, 84, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully Friday, September 15, 2017. Fedele was born in Marano Principato, Provincia Cosenza, Italy, on February 22, 1933, the son of the late Annunziato and Carmina (Ricchio) Tenuta. Fedele left his hometown in 1953 to work in Rome making handmade custom shoes. In 1959, he later went to work in Leon and then Paris, France for Bali Shoes. A long-time parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel church, Fedele also proudly served in the Italian Army before coming to America in 1962. He was a member of the Italian American Society since he arrived in Kenosha. On August 11, 1963, he was united in marriage to the love of his life Rita Carbone. Together, they had four children. Fedele was self-employed as a shoemaker and salesman with his own shoe business in Antioch, IL, for 45 years. He retired in 2008 at the age of 75. More than anything Fedele cherished time spent with his family. He will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 54 years, Rita; his children, Robert Tenuta of Kenosha, Rosaria Tenuta of Kenosha, Carmen (Shawn) Ortiz of Mount Pleasant, and Claudia (Eric Waller) Tenuta of Kenosha; seven grandchildren, Jake, Alexander, Gabriel, Grace, Max, Olivia and Simona; three step-grandchildren, Gabrielle, Jonas and Justin; his brother, Antonio (Emma) Tenuta of Kenosha; his brother, Joseph (Elsa) Tenuta of Palos Heights, IL; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Mariano, Amedeo and Cesare; his only sister, Ada Tenuta; and his daughter-in-law, Amy (Petersen) Tenuta. The family would like to thank Dr. Rodrigo Mata and his staff, the staff at Seasons Hospice and the family’s personal caregivers for their compassionate care and support over the last several years.
