Russell (Jaroslav) Hrycyniak, 87, of Kenosha, passed away on Sunday, September 3, 2017, at Aurora Medical Center in Kenosha, WI. Born in Lviv, Ukraine, on May 26, 1930, he was the son of the late Stefan and Sophia (Dunas) Hrycyniak. On May 7, 1960, he married Anna Haluzak at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral in Chicago. She preceded him in death on September 13, 2013. Russell was employed with the Arlington Heights School District 25 in Arlington Heights, IL. He was a member of St. Joseph Ukrainian Catholic Church in Chicago and was an avid bingo player at Kenosha Senior Living where he resided. Survivors include two children, Fr. Stephen (Sue) Hrycyniak and Christine (John) Rettmueller, both of Kenosha; six grandchildren, Joseph Hrycyniak, Julie (Ryan) Moriarty, Jennifer Rettmueller, Michael (Laura) Hrycyniak, Michelle Rettmueller and Elizabeth Hrycyniak; and one great-grandson, Camden Moriarty. He was preceded in death by a brother, Myroslav; and a sister, Olha. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 8th, at Proko Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 6:30 p.m. Interment will be private at Elmwood Cemetery in River Grove, IL.
