On Tuesday, June 20, 2017, Albert M. “Mike” Switalla, 53, passed away comforted by the love of his family after a courageous battle with heart disease. Mike was born in Chicago, IL, on November 14, 1963, to Albert R. and Mary Ann (Halik) Switalla. In 1977, his family moved to Edgerton, WI. Mike attended Edgerton High School where he played football and was a state qualifier in track. He graduated in 1982, and went on to attend Blackhawk Technical College earning his Airframe and Powerplant Licenses in 1985. This was the beginning of an aviation career that he loved, most of which was at Northwest Airlines in Chicago. Mike also worked at WE Energies in Pleasant Prairie until 2015. On April 30, 1988, Mike married his high school sweetheart, Nancy Shearer, after what many would call an extended courtship of eight years. His greatest joy came with the arrival of his two children, Steven and Griffin. Family was very important to Mike and nothing made him happier than being able to help those he loved, whether it be fixing a car or telling someone how important it was to save their money. He enjoyed CNBC, charting stocks, golf, family football games, and was proud to be a part-owner of the Green Bay Packers. Mike is survived by his wife, Nancy; his sons, Steven and Griffin; his mother, Mary Ann Switalla; sisters, Barbara, Carol (David), and Tammy (Jim), sisters-in-law, Susan and Sara; brother-in-law, Bob; nephews and nieces, Patrick (Sara), Becki (Eric), Joey (Megan), Maggie (Nate), Jacqueline, Amanda (Zach), Kimberly (Bobby), Tiffany (Rob), Joseph (Tasha), Angela (Scott), Samantha, Toni, Colton (Kathy), Wyatt, Justin(Tyler), Andy, Adam(Tailor), Carl, Tom, and Anna; and a plethora of great nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by his father, Albert; niece, Katie; and his maternal and paternal grandparents. A Celebration of Life for Mike will be held on Saturday, June 24th, at Proko Funeral Home, at 1:00 p.m. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorials to a scholarship fund to be established in Mike’s name.Proko Funeral Home & Crematory5111 60th Street Kenosha, WI 53144Phone: (262) 654-3533Visit & Sign Alberts’ Online Memorial Book At:www.prokofuneralhome.com
