Richard D. Barnes, 94, formerly of Pleasant Prairie, WI, passed away peacefully at home in Beloit, WI, on June 14, 2017, after a long battle with liver cancer. Richard was born on September 13, 1922, to George and Mary Barnes. He had two brothers, George and Edward, and a sister, Verna. Richard served in the 8th Army Airforce in WWII. He later married LaVerne Kahler in 1947 and together they had four children. Richard is survived by his children, Donald (June) Barnes of Antigo, WI, Karen Pence of Azusa, CA, Roger (Sharon Topp) Barnes of Waunakee, WI, and Trudy (Charles Wille) Barnes of Beloit, WI. He is also survived by his brother, Edward Barnes of Milton, WI. Richard was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, LaVerne; his brother, George Barnes; and his sister, Verna Kreth. In accordance with Richard's final wishes, there will be no funeral or memorial services.
