The promise Jesus gave us in John 14 came true for ‘Wag’ on June 8, 2017, as He took him by the hand and brought him home. The Bible tells us that God has a plan for us. His plan began December 29, 1928, as Wag entered this world. He married Joan Nelson on February 10, 1951, and together they spent more than 66 years building a life of memories and a legacy of family. The U.S. States Army became Wag’s first career. Serving his country, including time spent in Viet-Nam and earning a bronze Star, he retired after 20 years as a Lt. Colonel. He worked for Abbott Laboratories for 20 years as his second career. Wag enjoyed Ham Radio but his real joy came from his time spent with all his Airstream friends, even becoming the president of WBCCI for the entire country. Joan and Wag spent time in FL where they made friends with people from all over the country. Wag was a man of integrity and honor. He was never one to have the spotlight on himself, seldom talking about his personal achievements through-out his life, which were many. Wags legacy will continue to live on through his wife, Joan; his children, Suzann (Ray) Roberts, Sherri (Don) Yeager, Sabrina Knopff, Robert Wagnon, Jr, Cindy Frances (Lynn) Stubbs, and Nelson (Paula) Wagnon; 16 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and friends from around the world. Wag was proceeded in death by his son, Glenn, where he will be laid to rest next to him. Wag truly left this world better then he found it and now heaven has become a little bit brighter with his arrival. You are invited to join the family for visitation on Monday, June 12th, at Proko Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. where smiles and stories can be shared. Services to celebrate Wag’s 88 years will be held on Tuesday, June 13th, at Proko Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. with full military honors to follow. Interment will take place at Northshore Garden of Memories - 1801 Green Bay Rd, North Chicago, IL 60064, at 12:00 noon.
