Lila and her husband, Jack McCray, were very active in the Chico Church of the Brethren. In 1960, they were called by their denomination to be missionaries in India for five years. Lila’s mission was being a hostess in Bombay for missionaries throughout India and Jack was a manager in the Inter-Mission Business Office. After their return to the United States they enjoyed travels to Africa, Central America, Israel and Europe. Prior to her work with her denomination she was National Field Director for CROP/Church World Service. Lila retired from the Church of the Brethren National Stewardship Team, in Elgin, Illinois. For nine years Lila was a member of the Board of Directors of the Oaklawn Psychiatric Center in Elkhart, Indiana. After moving to live in Kenosha, Wisconsin, she and her husband joined her daughter and son-in-law, becoming members of Journey Church/Assembly of God. Lila is survived by her daughter, Karen Modder-Border, and husband, David Border of Kenosha, Wisconsin, as well as her daughter-in-law, Linda Brooks Broyles of Modesto, California. Lila graduated from Chico High School and attended Indiana University and Associated Mennonite Biblical Seminary. “I request no service for myself. I helped plan my dear husband’s service and that was my service also, with relatives coming from Wisconsin, California and Brazil. Thank you.” -Lila McCrayProko Funeral Home & Crematory5111-60th StreetKenosha, WI 53144Phone: (262) 654-3533Visit & Sign Lila’s Online Memorial Book at:www.prokofunerahome.com
