Maria G. Garramone

1931 ∼ 2017

Maria G. Garramone
Maria G. Garramone, 86, formerly of Kenosha, late of East Lansing, MI, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 14, 2017, at Sparrow Health System in Lansing. Born in Kenosha on February 9, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Emma (Pitz) Seelandt. She was educated in local schools, graduating from Kenosha High School. On September 10, 1949, she married Phillip R. Garramone at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Kenosha. He preceded her in death on September 1, 2003. Maria was gifted at a range of needle arts: she sewed matching dresses for her three granddaughters, embroidered pictures and bell pulls that lined the walls of her home, crocheted cozy afghans, and most significantly, designed and sewed hundreds of artistic teddy bears under the name M.G. Bears. She displayed the products of her work in her home, a home she helped build and dearly loved. When she didn’t have a needle in her hand, Maria could be found tending her garden. With her husband, Phil, Maria toured Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, and the Czech Republic. She particularly enjoyed reconnecting with relatives in Germany. Survivors include her son, James (Julie) Garramone of Evanston, IL; her daughter, Gina (Mont Roberts) Garramone of East Lansing, MI; and four grandchildren, Rachael Garramone, Megan (Rafi) Kazi, Mont Roberts, and Emma Roberts. She was preceded in death by her brother, Karl Heinz Seelandt. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 18th, at Proko Funeral Home from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the charity of one’s choice in Maria’s memory would be appreciated by the family.Proko Funeral Home & Crematory5111-60th StreetKenosha, WI 53144Phone: (262) 654-3533Visit & Sign Maria’s Online Memorial Book at:www.prokofuneralhome.com

I am so very sorry for your loss. Please find comfort in God's sure promise of a resurrection as set forth in the Bible. (Acts 24:15; John 5:28,29) Those who are raised to life will have the prospect of never again being subject to misery, sickness, or death. (Revelation 21:4) May this prospect and your wonderful memories give you a measure of comfort during this difficult time.

Maria Garramone was one of the most inspiring and influential people I have ever met in my young adult life. We spent many hours together where she taught me about sewing, gardening, cooking and life. What a wonderful person who has left a profound impact on the lives with whom she invested her time, energy and beauty. Much love to Maria and her family at this difficult time.
