William J. Wember, 78, of Kenosha passed away peacefully on Monday, April 10, 2017. Born in Kenosha on January 13, 1939, he was the son of the late Vincent A. and Esther L. (Skendziel) Wember. He was educated in Kenosha and Chicago schools. He served in the United States Army from 1962 until 1964, during the Berlin and Cuban Missile Crisis. He received the National Defense Medal. William was a former Boy Scout and Scout Leader. He was a Life Scout and a member of The Order of the Arrow in which he was in The Brotherhood of the Order of the Arrow. He also was a lifetime member of the American Legion, AMVETS and DAV. He was a regular member of the PLAV. He belonged to the Knights of Columbus Council 973 and the 4th Degree Archbishop Messmer Assembly Knights of Columbus for over 50 years. He was also a member of the Danish Brotherhood and St. Mary’s Catholic Church. William is survived by his niece, Cindy L. (Jason) Morgan. He was preceded in death by his sister, Lucienne E. Ross; brother-in-law, Karl H. Ross; and niece, Sherry Ann Gardner. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 19th, at Proko Funeral Home at 12:30 p.m. Interment will follow at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
