Eva Belmonte, 84, formerly of Kenosha, late of Waukegan, IL, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 4, 2017, at Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan. Born in Marano Marchesto, Calabria, Italy, on September 21, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Mariano and Giuseppina (Conforti) Spizzirri. Her family moved to Kenosha in 1947. On August 31, 1957, she married Louis C. Belmonte at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Kenosha. They moved to Waukegan in 1960. Eva was employed as a shipping clerk with Stevens Instruments in Waukegan. She was a member of St. Anastasia Catholic Parish in Waukegan. She loved reading, cooking, traveling and shopping. Most of all, she loved being with her family. Survivors include her husband, Louis C. Belmonte of Waukegan; three children, Ella (John) Gagliardo of Kenosha, Peter (Pamela) Belmonte of O’Fallon, IL, and Mary (Don) Ross of Beach Park, IL; two brothers, Jack (Maria) Spizzirri and Valentino (Geri) Spizzirri, both of Kenosha; eleven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends both locally and in Italy. She was preceded in death by a sister, Bellina Macrito. Eva’s family would like to thank the ICU staff at Vista Medical Center East for all the kind and compassionate care they gave her.
