Geraldine L. Jensen

1945 ∼ 2017

Geraldine L. Jensen
Heaven’s lights shone brighter on March 21, 2017 when 71-year-old Geraldine “Geri” Lois (Smith) Jensen took her place among the stars. Born above a cheese factory in Hay River, Wis. on September 3, 1945 to Arnold and Elizabeth (Minor) Smith, she grew out of the dresser drawer that she slept in to become a woman whose words were kind, actions were generous and love was unfailing. She grew up loving 1950s and 1960s music and attending dances at Bradford High School in Kenosha, Wis. On October 28, 1961, she married Lynn C. Jensen at St. James Catholic Church in Kenosha and was married for 38 years. Across Dunn, Barron and Kenosha county, she shared her faith and love of the Lord as a Confraternity of Christian Doctrine (CCD) teacher for 18 years and brought her talents to St. George’s Catholic Church in Kenosha where she cooked for Father Lawrence Chapman and Father Bill Whalen. She served her community as the secretary for the Dunn County Environmental Council, a member of the Dunn County Homemakers Club and a host mother to German foreign exchange student, Christian Behrendt. For three years, she owned the ice cream parlor, Cookie’s Sweets and Cream in Kenosha. Over the course of eight years, she was a loving and devoted foster mother to 11 newborns. Three generations have memories of frosting sugar cookies, playing games and eating her famous homemade buns. Above all, she loved being a mother to her four children who survived her in death: Lynn (Dawn) Jensen of Neenah, Wis.; Tami (Edward) Sirrell of Berlin, Wis.; Jody (Nada El-Khoury) Jensen of Fla. and Thad (Jill) Jensen of Kenosha, Wis. Geri is also survived by her two loving siblings, Dennis (Sally) Smith and Jill (Tom) Corr as well as sister-in-law Olevia Downes. Geri was a Nana to 12 surviving grandchildren: Chad Sirrell, Jamie-Lynn (Bryan) Sirrell-Kraft, Chastity (Brian) Clark, Arianne (Benjamin) Masters, Cliff (Gina) Jensen, Andrew Sirrell, Clint Jensen, Julie Jensen, Jaclyn Jensen, Casey (Bradley) Husby, Todd Jensen and Kylee Brinkman, ex-granddaughters-in-law: Ashley Sirrell and Coral Jensen and 15 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by five godchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and loving friends. Preceding her in death were her parents; brother James “Jimmy” (Maxine) Quarders; sister Lois (Wally) Hermann-Dailey; brother Donald (Carol) Quarders; brother Lloyd Quarders; brother Loren Quarders; brother Lawrence (Margaret) Quarders; sister Lorraine (Darrell) Pickerign; sister Beverly (William) Ankney; sister Gloria (Donald) Vepley; brother Richard Smith; granddaughters Mary Kay Sirrell and Autumn Lydia Jensen. The celebration of Geri’s life will take place on March 31, 2017 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, 9091 Prairie Ridge Blvd, Pleasant Prairie, Wis. 53158. The visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. followed by noon Mass. I'm so sorry for all your hurting hearts . My Dad and Aumt Mel called to let me know your Mom had passed .Dad said he sent flowers from all of us. Just something how fast life comes and goes.I KNOW SHES HOME NOW WITH OUR FATHER JESUS I want to share a few wonderful memories I have of Aunt Gerrie . First would be her WONDERFUL SMILE AND LAUGH , it warmed my heart as a child always hearing her laugh and seeing her smile I also remember the Farm up North , Aunt Gerri taking us on a tour of the fields where all the cows were , face to face with her walking stick, talking to the cows telling them to behave while we were in their fields of green . I found my first Bull Frog there at their farm . I thought it was the coolest thing. . Lastly and really dear my Heart is, when I married in OCTOBER 1994 , never did I expect to see any of the fsmily at my wedding. I was blessed even more that day not just with the man I was marrying but to see Aunt Gerris SMILE as I walked down the isle . I stopped and shed tears of joy seeing Her as well as a few other of my dads brothers and their wives . I was hugging and trying to not cry to much, my brother INLAW had to pull me away from all so we could get on with my vows :)! I will ALWAYS remember your mother and her BEAUTY INSIDE AND OUT . HUGS TO ALL MY COUSINS Aunts and Uncles
