Debra L. Ludwig, 61, of Pleasant Prairie, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 20, 2017, at Hospice Alliance Hospice House surrounded by her loving family. Born in Kenosha on November 1, 1955, she was the daughter of William and Margaret (Ells) Taylor. She was a lifetime resident of Pleasant Prairie and was educated in local schools. On September 4, 1971, she was united in marriage to Robert “Bob” Ludwig, Jr. For a number of years Debbie was a homemaker. From 1991 until 2001 she owned and operated her own bakery, “Deb’s Bakery.” She was well known for her creative cake decorating and remarkable wedding cakes. A member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church, she was a volunteer at St. Anne’s and Hospice Alliance and she also taught Religious Education for many years. Debbie enjoyed babysitting for her grandchildren. She loved vegetable and flower gardening and had a green thumb. In her younger years, she enjoyed softball, bowling and coaching Pleasant Prairie Youth Softball and Kenosha County Girls Fast Pitch League in the 80’s. Debbie is survived by her husband Robert “Bob” Ludwig, Jr. of Pleasant Prairie; her three children; Sheri (Aaron) Reichel of New Lisbon, WI; Susan Ludwig (fiancée: David Schad) of Sturtevant, WI; Joe (Jessica) Ludwig of Kenosha; her mother Margaret Taylor of Kendall, WI; one sister Cathy Rogers of Lacrosse, WI; one half-brother, Donnie Taylor of Tupelo, MS; one half-sister, Betty O’Barr of West Point, MS and her six grandchildren, Tyler, Sheridan, Nicholas, Amanda, Faith and Sierra. She also had two step-grandchildren Phillip and Josh. She was preceded in death by her father, William Taylor, a brother Larry Taylor, sister Bonnie Minard and half-sister, Gladys Brooks. The family would also like to thank Hospice House and St. Catherine’s for the wonderful care and support they provided. Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 25th, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anne’s Catholic Church. Visitation for Debbie will be held on Tuesday at Proko Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and on Wednesday at St. Anne’s Church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass.
