Iolanda Filippelli

1931 ∼ 2017

Iolanda Filippelli, 85, quietly slipped into eternity at Aurora Medical Center in Kenosha, WI, on Monday, January 16, 2017. Born on February 11, 1931, in the mountainside town of Marano Principato in southern Italy she was the youngest daughter of the late Serafino and Carolina Scarlato. Here she was raised and educated. On January 18, 1959, she married Eugenio Filippelli. Twelve years later, they immigrated to America with their two young sons and settled in Kenosha, WI. Iolanda worked at Jockey International, Inc. and Kenosha Leatherette and Display Co. In later years, she and her husband were familiar faces at the Columbus Park Farmer’s Market where they sold their bountiful produce. Iolanda was devoted to her family, and took pride in caring for them. Her fried potatoes and homemade pasta will never be duplicated, but it is her love and open arms that will be remembered most. A quiet woman, she carried herself always with strength and dignity. She will be greatly missed by her husband; her sons, Frank and Carlo (Mary Jo) Filippelli; and her grandchildren, Samuel, Nathan, Lydia, and Benjamin. She is also survived by a sister, Ida de Molinaro; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death are her parents; a brother, Cesare Scarlato; a sister, Rosa Ruffolo; and her twin infant daughters, Rita and Silvana. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, 1919-54th Street, on Friday, January 20th, at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will take place beforehand at 9:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at All Saints Mausoleum, 3300 Springbrook Rd.Proko Funeral Home & Crematory5111-60th StreetKenosha, WI 53144Phone: (262) 654-3533Visit & Sign Iolanda’s Online Memorial Book at:www.prokofuneralhome.com
