Helen J. Tunkieicz, 87, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 11, 2017, at Brookside Care Center. Born in Kenosha on September 16, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Rose (Denig) Fliess. A lifelong resident of Kenosha, she was educated in local schools, graduating from St. Catherine’s High School in Racine. On May 20, 1950, she married Stanley J. Tunkieicz at St. George Catholic Church. Helen worked at Simmons prior to her marriage. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, the Kenosha Mothers of Twins Club, the Birthday Club, and the Homemakers Club. She also volunteered with the CYO Band and enjoyed knitting, sewing, baking, gardening, and bowling. She is survived by her two sons, Gary Tunkieicz and Richard Tunkieicz, both of Kenosha; two daughters, Debbie (Ron Sabby) Bindelli of Kenosha and Kathleen (Charles J.) Gehring of Sheboygan; a son-in-law, Dennis Kammerzelt of Bristol; two brothers, Robert (Elaine) Fliess of Somers and Thomas Fliess of Sturtevant; a sister, Rita Brown of Tumwater, WA; four grandchildren, Kristen (Robert) Joyce, Kari (Chad) Willms, Charles M. (Kevin Trinh) Gehring and Daniel Gehring; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Joseph Tunkieicz; a daughter, Karen Kammerzelt; and a brother, Charles Fliess. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 16th, at Proko Funeral Home from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the prayer service at 11:30 a.m. Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary Catholic Church at 12:00 noon. Entombment will follow at All Saints Mausoleum.
