Robert J. “Popcorn Bob” Mazurek, 77, of Bristol, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 2, 2016, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Chicago, IL, on October 5, 1939, he was the son of the late Charles and Estelle Mazurek. He attended Lane Tech College Prep High School. Bob moved to Bristol in 1993 and married Eileen Walczak on February 5, 1994. He worked for Triton College for 24 years prior to his retirement in 2008. Bob enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, playing with his dog Samson, rooting for the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears, listening to his favorite country music artists, and making popcorn. Survivors include his wife, Eileen Mazurek; brother, John (Laura) Mazurek; sister-in-law, Rita Mazurek; children, Steve Mazurek, Michelle (Scott) Vandenhouten, and David Walczak; grandchildren, Anthony Mazurek, Abby Vandenhouten, and Sarah Vandenhouten; and his dog, Samson. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ken Mazurek.
