Richard “Dick” Bundies passed away on Tuesday, November 8, 2016, at his home. Born on May 6, 1934, in Kenosha, WI, he was the son of the late Clyde and Esther (Cable) Bundies. He graduated from Bradford High School, where he excelled at track and football, then went on to earn his Bachelor’s in Liberal Arts degree from Lawrence University in Appleton, WI. It was in Appleton where he met his wife of more than 50 years, Rita Ann Fish. They were married on December 1, 1956, at American Martyrs Church in Kingsford, MI. She preceded him in death on February 18, 2009. After serving in the United States Navy from 1956 until 1958, when he was honorably discharged, he returned home to work in his family’s business, Badger Press. He was responsible for years of innovation and growth in the company, and was still vital to its operation up to his passing. He was well respected among all employees as well as clients. He will be remembered not only his honesty, integrity and the manner that he conducted his business, but for his sense of humor. Richard was also well respected in the community. He was a member and Past President of the Kiwanis Club of Western Kenosha and a former member of the 306 Club. In the past, he also sat on the Board of Directors of Bank One. Richard had his private pilot’s license. His passion for flying led to his becoming a member of the Kenosha Airport Commission from 1970-1976, contributing to the development of the municipal airport. He loved to golf, bowl, fish and ski. As the years progressed, he became an avid reader and was constantly scouring record bins for used jazz and classical albums. He also loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandson. Richard is survived by his two sons, Todd (Sue) Bundies and Timm (Marta) Bundies; three grandchildren, Zachary Bundies, Kayleigh (Andrew) Wilber and Tyler Bundies; one great-grandson, Bronson Wilber; and two sisters, Joan Berg and Betty Koehler. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 11th, at Proko Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at St. James Cemetery. Dear Bundies Family,I was so sad to hear of Dick’s passing. He often visited my place of employment – that is where I met him. Such a kind man he was, always having a smile on his face and brightening my day. May he rest in peace.
