Jo “Mrs. Red” Ellis, 83, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 5, 2016, at Sheridan Medical Complex. Jo was born in Muskegon, MI, on April 18, 1933, the daughter of the late Oakley B. and Luella (Christiansen) MacPherson. Jo graduated from Mary D. Bradford High School. She married Clyde “Red” Ellis on June 4, 1955; they celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in 2005. Jo had three children, two sons and a daughter, John Ellis, Curt (Joan) Ellis and Cathy Elliott. Jo and her husband owned and operated Red’s Roller Rink in Kenosha and also later in New London, and also Interstate Yamaha in Kenosha. Jo later owned and operated Jo’s Swim and Trim. Jo enjoyed skating, motorcycle rides, baking, sewing and swimming. Jo loved her family and spending time with them. She enjoyed spoiling their dogs. She was a member of the Red Hatters and the “Club”, her girls from high school. Jo is survived by her children, Cathy Elliott of Appleton and Curt (Joan) Ellis of Bristol; step daughter, Patty Ellis of Colorado; four grandchildren, Eric (Ashley) Ellis, Kelsi Ellis, Maxwell Elliott and Heather (Stephen) Parkhill. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Pete MacPherson; son, John Ellis; and her loving husband, Clyde “Red” Ellis. Jo’s family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Sheridan Medical Complex for all the compassion and care they gave her while she was there.
