John V. Rantanen, 73, of Pleasant Prairie, passed away on Thursday, October 27, 2016, at United Hospital System-St. Catherine’s Medical Center Campus in Pleasant Prairie surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Helsinki, Finland, on August 19, 1943. On March 15, 1975, he married Rosemary Anderson in Waukegan, IL. John was employed with the Carter Hoffman Corporation as a quality assurance technician for over 20 years until he retired in 2006. He was a member of the Sojourners motorcycle club in Illinois where he received the nick name of “Finn”. He loved fishing, listening to music and taking his annual family fishing trip up north with his family. Surviving John are his wife, Rosemary; his children, Brenda Mitchell of Pleasant Prairie, Chuck (Deb) Mitchell of Hales Corners, Scott (Jesica) Rantanen of Kenosha and Sara Rantanen of Pleasant Prairie; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He is further survived by other relatives and friends in Finland and Kenosha. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Johnny E. Rantanen.
