Robert F. Spitzer
Robert F. Spitzer passed away on Tuesday, October 25, 2016, at Brookdale Living Center, Pleasant Prairie. Born in Kenosha on December 26, 1922, he was the son of the late Fred and Margaret (Schlader) Spitzer. He was a graduate of Kenosha High School (now Mary D. Bradford). Serving in the United States Army from 1943 to 1946, Bob was stationed in the Philippines and Greenland. He married Marilyn Linstroth on November 8, 1947, at the First Methodist Church. Together they raised three sons. Bob spent most of his career with Abbott Laboratories working as a chemical operator and later a production planning specialist. After retiring in 1984, Bob and Marilyn spent several years at their lake home in Rhinelander. They moved back to Kenosha in 1992. Bob was an avid Milwaukee Braves fan and later a Brewers fan. He also enjoyed watching Packer games. He loved a good Beefeater martini. He enjoyed visits from his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In 2012, Bob accompanied by his son, Mike had the opportunity to join the Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. It was a day he’d always remember. Bob is survived by his three sons, Michael R. (Dru) Spitzer of Somers, Rob D. (Barb) Spitzer of Franklin and Glenn W. Spitzer of Winter Haven, FL; seven grandchildren, Megan, Erin, Janelle, Kyle (Ashly), Erica, Wesley and Joey; and three great-grandchildren, Brady, Madisyn and Grayden. He is further survived by his sister, Delores (Ken) Schroeder, a niece and two nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Marilyn in 2014. Funeral services for Bob will be held Wednesday, November 2, 2016, at Proko Funeral Home at 10:30 a.m. Internment with full military honors will follow at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park. Visitation for family and friends will be at the funeral home on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
