Almira Ruffolo

1934 ∼ 2016

Almira Ruffolo, 82, of Kenosha, passed away on Friday, August 19, 2016, at her residence surrounded by her family. She was born on February 8, 1934, in Falcohara, Provence of Cosenza, Italy, the daughter of the late Vincenzo and Angelina (Presta) Marchese. Almira attended schools in Italy, where she also worked in a papermill. On November 11, 1962, she married Achille Ruffolo in Haywards Heath, Sussex, England, where they resided for 53 years. She and her husband owned and operated an Italian Restaurant and a Fish and Chips restaurant in England. Almira was an active member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church in England. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, spending time with her husband, taking walks to the sea side and taking care of her household. In November of 2015 Almira and Achille moved to Kenosha to be closer to their family. Surviving Almira are her husband, Achille of Kenosha; her son, Luigi (Shannon) Ruffolo of Kenosha; grandchildren, Micayla, Gavin, Elliana, Caitlyn, Achille "Kelly", Christina and Michael Ruffolo, all of Kenosha; brother-in-law, Pierino (Rose) Ruffolo of Kenosha; and sisters-in-law, Maria (Mario) Dattilo and Santina Lori, both of Kenosha. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends in Kenosha, England and Italy. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Filomena and Lidia Marchese; brothers, Franco and Itilo Marchese; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Luigi and Carmella Ruffolo; nephew, Achille “Kelly” Ruffolo; niece, Gina Ruffolo; and brothers-in-law, Toni Lori and Francesco Ruffolo. The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Mariani, Dr. Bloom, the staff at Kenosha Memorial Hospital and Hospice Alliance for the wonderful care given to Almira. Visitation will be held at the Proko Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 23rd, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. A mass of Christian burial will be held at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church on Wednesday, August 24th, starting with prayers at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. and processing to the church for 10:00 a.m. Mass.
