Rudolph “Rudy” V. Ferraro, 87, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, August, 18, 2016. He was born in Kenosha on July 13, 1929 as the youngest son of the late Eugene and Mary Ferraro. He married Dolores M. Ferraro (née DeCono) on November 26, 1955 at Holy Rosary Church in Kenosha, WI. Rudy attended Bradford High School and excelled both academically and on the basketball court – playing both high school varsity and college basketball. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Rudy obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering and was a licensed Professional Engineer in both Wisconsin and Illinois. He served in the Wisconsin National Guard and the United States Air Force during the Korean War and was honorably discharged as a First Lieutenant in 1953. As Vice-President of Camosy Construction Company, he and his partner constructed many of the significant buildings in southeastern Wisconsin and northern Illinois. In 1977, Rudy founded Engineering & Construction Consultants, Inc. and acted as a consulting engineer until his retirement in 2010. Rudy was a longstanding member of Mensa International, a high I.Q. Society and served as Puzzle Editor of Mensa’s Wisconsin Newsletter for 18 years, winning National Awards for his monthly column. In addition to his great love of mathematical puzzles, he had a lifelong passion for physics, science and astronomy. He was a member of the Kenosha Country Club for 54 years and served as president of the Club from 1981-1982. An avid golfer and tennis player, Rudy was Club Champion in tennis singles, doubles and mixed doubles numerous times. As a member of the Italian American Club, Rudy was proud of his Italian heritage. Rudy is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Dolores; his daughters, Joan Ferraro and Mary (Jeffrey) Hoffmann; and his grandsons, Steven and Brian Hoffmann and Nicholas Rock. He is also survived by his siblings, Louise (Ray) Camosy and Joseph (Carol) Ferraro, his wife’s siblings, Helene Muratore, Joseph (Kathy) DeCono and Richard (Nancy) DeCono as well as many nieces and nephews, and other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Alice Gagliardi. A special thanks to Hospice Alliance for their compassionate and loving care. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, August 22nd, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, with Reverend Roman Stikel officiating. Entombment will follow at All Saints Mausoleum.
