Josephine Jo Cotton
Josephine “Jo” Cotton, 88, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 24, 2015, at Kenosha Senior Living Center. Born in Kenosha on February 19, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Katherine (Dolnik) Rosko. She was a lifelong resident of Kenosha and graduated from Mary D. Bradford High School. In 1946 she married Ervin C. Kobs; he preceded her in death in 1956. She later married Steven Cotton in Kenosha; he preceded her in death. She than became friends and companion to Hal Stettner who passed away in 2007. Jo enjoyed spending time with her family, especially during the holidays and enjoyed traveling with her companion Hal to Alaska, Canada, Europe and many other Mediterranean countries. She loved the outdoors, animals, gardening and supporting military and animal organizations. She survived the 1964 Alaskan earthquake as well as being one of the first people to vote in Alaska as a new state. She will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew and loved her. Jo is survived by her two children, Joy (Tim) Kos and Scott (Sandy) Kobs; three grandchildren, Donovan (Mindi) Matera, Daniel (Ashley) Kobs and Edward Kuzik; and four great-grandchildren, Talia Matera, Tegan Matera, Melanie Matera and Adelyn Kuzik. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Lillian. Jo’s family would like to thank the nurses and staffs of Kenosha Senior Living Center and Hospice Alliance for all of the kind and compassionate care that they gave her.
