Evelyn Croce Sacco, 98, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 18, 2015, at Hospice House in Pleasant Prairie. Born in Chicago, IL, on February 12, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Rosina (Ritacca) Stolfo. She moved to Kenosha as a young child and was educated in local schools. On September 26, 1936, she married Joseph Croce at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on November 7, 1968. On March 17, 1973, she married Michael J. Sacco at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on February 26, 1992. Evelyn was formerly employed at J.C. Penney and Isserman Brothers during World War II and retired from American Motors Corporation after 20 years in 1974. She was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church and was one of the oldest members of the Holy Rosary Altar Society. She was also an honorary member of the Italian American Ladies Auxiliary, played golf for the Maplecrest Tee-Ettes and bowled for the Morning Glories at Guttormsen’s. She loved to cook Italian food for her family and was well known for her genettes, which she made for her grandchildren’s weddings. Living at Celebre Place for the last two years, she enjoyed bingo, horse racing and Friday afternoon “Happy Hour.” She greatly enjoyed playing pinochle with a special group of friends every Tuesday and had also crocheted over 100 baby caps for St. Catherine’s Hospital. Survivors include her two children, Mary Lou (Ray) Potenziani and Anthony R. “Tony” (Rebecca Guzman) Croce, both of Kenosha; two step children, Dr. Russel (Lottie) Sacco of Portland, OR, and Michael (Pat) Sacco of Kenosha; twelve grandchildren, Linda, Laura, Lisa, Susan, Joe, Mark, Mariann, Michael, Leonard, Lorie, Marie and Mark; and numerous great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Fred Marchese and Leonard Stolfo; and a great-grandson, Kellen Becker. Evelyn’s family would like to thank Mary Kay, Peggy and the nurses at Celebre Place along with the entire staff at Hospice Alliance for all of the kind and compassionate care they gave her. Visitation will be held on Monday, December 21st, at Proko Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Family and friends are asked to meet on Tuesday, December 22nd, at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow at St. George Cemetery.
