Josephine G. Brandes, 86, formerly of Kenosha, passed away on Monday, December 7, 2015, at Harbour House in Greendale, WI. She was born in Kenosha on June 3, 1929, the daughter of the late Carmine and Filomena (Caputo) DeCesaro. She was educated in the Kenosha school system and was a graduate of Mary D. Bradford High School. On July 3, 1948, she married John Brandes in Kenosha; he preceded her in death on February 10, 1988. Josephine was employed at St. Catherine’s Hospital as a nursing assistant for over 25 years. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church. She enjoyed volunteering at the church and taking an active role in her children’s education and sports activities during her years in Kenosha. After John passed away she moved to Franklin, WI, to be closer to her children and attended Faith Presbyterian Church. Surviving Josephine are her four children, JoAnne Brandes of Hilton Head Island, SC, Jean (Loren) Hale of Independence, KS, Dr. Jim (Debbie) Brandes of Franklin, WI, and Jodi (Sean) Slein of Sykesville, MD; eleven grandchildren, Jennifer, Julianne (Ronnie), Katelyn, John, Nathan (Juanita), Adrian, Elizabeth, Matthew, Michael, Connor and Luke; and three great-grandchildren, Jordy, Jayliegh and Harliegh. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, John; her son, John “Rusty” on June 1, 1981; a brother, Arthur F. DeCesaro Sr.; and three sisters, Christine M. Gannaway, Ida Gannaway and Carmella I. Fegan.
