Judith A.”Judy” Kavalauskas1937-2015One day after the 61st anniversary of her marriage to the love of her life, Judy Kavalauskas slipped peacefully away into his loving arms. She waited until we all had a chance to say Goodbye before finally joining him for what was surely a joyous celebration. They had been apart for 4 years, 5 months and 10 days, an eternity for both of them. Judy loved to read the "obits" daily but never liked when one stated that someone had "passed away peacefully surrounded by their loving family", (we don't think she believed them), so, sorry Mom, but the truth is she passed away peacefully and she was indeed, surrounded by her loving family.Judith Ann Remington was born in Kenosha on October 13th, 1937, the daughter of the late Wesley and Ruby Remington. A mere 16 years later, she was married to Larry Kavalauskas. After their marriage, Larry headed back to California where he was stationed with the Marines and Judy followed alone, by train, with what little money she had tucked into her bra and a bag lunch. Two of their four children were born in California before they returned to Kenosha. Those first years in California were what she believed solidified their marriage; having only each other to rely on and at times being so broke that dinner consisted of a shared can of spaghetti. Theirs was a true love story and that love endures with their four children, nine grandchildren and four great great-children.Judy attended Frieden's Lutheran School and had many fond memories of that time. After her marriage, she was a stay-at-home Mom until her youngest was in school. She worked at Washington Manor, ARA Vending, and American Motors before she and Larry purchased Spanky's in Kenosha where she was the bookkeeper and could often be found on break with a cup of coffee and a cigarette. She was not a soft person, she was tough and not afraid to speak her mind but she loved her family with all her heart. Larry was the softer one but every time he did something for us kids and whispered, "Don't tell Mom", we think she knew.One of her favorite things was traveling with Larry and they enjoyed several cruises over the years, her favorite being their cruise to Alaska. She always dreamed of living on a lake and some of her happiest times were those spent at their place in Silver Lake where they each fished in their separate spots, communicating by walkie-talkie and each hoping to catch the bigger fish.She is survived by her children, Rick and his wife Pam and their children, Jason (Sarah) and their children Charlie and Wyatt, Ryan (Tina), and Kyle (Carrie), Renee and her children Andrew (Betsy), and Ashley, Randy and his wife Sharon and their daughter Nicole (Nick) and their children Joey and Lathan, and Rob and his children Zachary, Korey and Clay. She is also survived by her brother Tom and his wife Penny. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, her best friend, her other half, and although we will miss her terribly, we rejoice in the knowledge that they are together, never again to be separated.Please join us for a celebration of her life which will be held on Tuesday December 1, 2015 at the Proko Funeral Home from 3:00 p.m. until time of service at 7:00 p.m. Interment will be held privately.In lieu of flowers, memorials to Hospice Alliance would be appreciated by the family.The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of 3 Palmer at Kenosha Hospital and especially Lynnea for their care and compassion shown both to our Mom and to all of us.
