Ellen Josephine Mattiazzi

Ellen J. Mattiazzi, 87, died early Sunday morning at Aurora Medical Center surrounded by her family. A lifetime Kenoshan, she was born June 11, 1928, the daughter of the late Angelo and Edith (Capelli) Mattiazzi. She attended local schools. Ellen was well known as the receptionist in the main lobby of American Motors for 20 years, retiring in 1985 after a total of 37 years with the company. She was an active member of the Italian American Ladies Society and a lifetime member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church and its Ladies Altar Society. In her younger years, she sang in the church choir and worked the parish summer festival in several capacities. She also had been a skilled bowler. In addition to her many Kenosha activities Ellen traveled extensively to Europe, South America, Canada and Mexico, including Cruising the Caribbean and Alaska. Her favorite vacations were driving through the 48 States in her younger years. She was a friendly, warm, caring person who was always concerned of others with thoughts, feeling and prayers. Ellen is survived by her sister Erma Mattiazzi; brother, Joseph (Patricia Iaquinta) Mattiazzi; and nieces, Jill (Brian P.) Wilman and children Stephanie and Brian A. Wilman; and Laura (Scott) Leinenweber and children Madison, Kaitlyn and Ethan Leinenweber. She is also survived by several Capelli cousins and their families. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, October 8th, at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at St. George Cemetery.
