Gilda Rose Conti

1923 ∼ 2015

Gilda Rose Conti
Gilda Rose (Tenuta) Conti 91 of Kenosha, passed away Sunday, August 2nd, 2015 at the Brookside Care Center. She was born December 12th, 1923 in Kenosha, Wisconsin, the daughter of Mercurio and Saveria (Muoio) Tenuta. Gilda married the love of her life Reno John Conti on September 26,1946 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Both were life-long members. Gilda was a devout Catholic and a devoted member of the Holy Rosary Parish. As a member of the Holy Rosary Altar Society, along with other members, was responsible for the appearance of the Church’s altar. Gilda also was a member of the Holy Rosary Sodality and supported the church though many fund raising efforts. She worked in the Holy Rosary School cafeteria and during the Church’s summer festival, you would see her volunteering helping in the many activity booths and down in the kitchen making spaghetti and pizza. She was always supportive in any way that she could serve the Church. Gilda was a member of the Italian American Society in Kenosha and a member of the Roma Lodge in Racine. Gilda was a lifelong member of two small women’s clubs composed of her close childhood friends. These groups of women met monthly for over fifty years at each other homes sharing their life experiences and loves.Gilda also worked at Kenosha Hospital for a number of years so she and Reno, a Kenosha firefighter, could send two of their sons through college. All who knew her loved her friendly and warm personality. She was very social and a friend to all she met. Her best lesson for us is that her selfless life was devoted to family and others, which is the highest example of God’s work here on earth. Surviving are her three sons, Dr. Dennis R. (Claudia) Conti of Lincoln , CA; John (Nicki) Conti of Glendale, CA and Dante (Lisa) Conti of Fort Collins, CO; sisters Lulu Greco and Jesse Paulson of Kenosha and brother Joseph of Kenosha: five grandchildren, Matthew, Richard, Dennis John, Marco and Dante Michael. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2008.A visitation will be held on Friday, August 7th at the Proko Funeral Home from 4-7 p.m. and will continue on Saturday from the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. for prayers followed by a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at All Saints Mausoleum.Proko Funeral Home & Crematory5111 60th St. 262 654 3533Visit Gilda’s Online Memorial Book At:

Dear Dennis, Claudia and family of Gilda,My heart goes out to you for your loss. I had the pleasure of working with Gilda in the Surgery dept. of KMH for many years and she was such a joy to be around. She was always smiling and so good to everyone with whom she came in contact. I'm sure she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
