Maria P. Ponce, 88, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 28, 2015, at United Hospital System-St. Catherine’s Campus. Born in Celaya, GTO, Mexico, on June 29, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Elijio and Guadalupe (Alberto) Piña. She was educated in the schools of Mexico and moved to Kenosha from El Paso, TX, in 1977. Maria was employed as a cook for many years at the Kenosha Spanish Center and was a member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church. Maria was a babysitter for many children throughout the years. She loved to watch professional wrestling and even had an opportunity to meet her favorite wrestler, Sheamus. Survivors include her daughter, Consuelo Ponce of Kenosha; and a grandson, Johnny Bahena of Kenosha. She was preceded in death by a son, Jose Ponce; a daughter, Marta Ponce; and a sister, Petra Piña.
