Mary Carmela Ruffalo, 97, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 16, 2015, at United Hospital System-Kenosha Campus. Born in Kenosha on March 7, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Domenico and Emelia (Savaglio) Ruffalo. She was educated in the schools of Kenosha and graduated from Kenosha High School. Mary was employed as a cook for the Kemper Center Girls School and then after the school closed, followed the nuns up to Milwaukee where she continued to cook for them until she retired in 1983. She was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church. Mary passed on her Italian cooking skills to her nieces and nephews and above all, she loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Survivors include her two sisters, Jennie Ruffalo and Eleanor (Joseph) DeCesaro, both of Kenosha; two nieces, Cathy and Terri; a nephew, Paul (Jane); two great-nieces, Amanda and Danielle; and two great-nephews, Brian and Jayson. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Feny, Anthony, Samuel and Louis; and a sister, Sister Mary Catherine O.P. Mary’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Gobrial of the Visiting Physicians, the staff at UHS-Kenosha Campus and especially to Laura Hanson and the Hartnell family for all of the wonderful care they gave her. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, June 19th, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at St. George Cemetery.
