Mildred Louise Olsen, a longtime Waukegan resident, Illinois restaurateur and interior designer, died surrounded by her family on Wednesday, June 10, 2015, in Bristol, WI where she lived with her daughter. Millie, 90, was born Mildred Louise Harrison in Waukegan and grew up on the largest dairy farm in Lake County, operated by her parents, Sanford and Erma Harrison. She was an accomplished ballerina and tap dancer and was a member of a professional dance troupe. Her love of dance lasted throughout her lifetime. In 1945, she married Thomas Michael Olsen of Waukegan and had three children: Thomas Olsen II (Sandra), Dianne (Evan Voights), and Dawn Marie (Peter Krupa). She had six grandchildren: Thomas Olsen III (Jackie), Kate (Loren) Kreiss, Melissa Anne Voights, Kimberlee (Brad) Miller, Kelly Marie Krupa, Kristine (Alex) Solo and six great grandchildren. Millie and Tom owned and operated the Feast House Restaurant on Grand Avenue in Waukegan for two decades. She then pursued a career in interior design and opened Dawnmarie’s Touch of Elegance, which she ran for over twenty-five years. She was an avid golfer and was a member of Glen Flora Country Club for over fifty years. She was a soft-spoken, poised, and graceful lady, known for her generosity and unending support by all who knew her. After retiring, she moved to Sarasota, Florida. She was a member of the Meadows Country Club and the Red Hat Ladies. She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas of 46 years in 1991 and three sisters, Edna, Frances and Marion.
